So, week 1 down.
We went to the gym a few times this week, did back yard workouts, and other days went for walks. In addition, we have been using the medicine ball to work out while we watch The Biggest Loser.
For our food intake, we have been following the recipes and advice from Michelle Bridges’ recipe books (she is our idol!) She recommends calorie counting, so we have been trying to ensure we stay at around 1200 calories a day. It was a big change of lifestyle for us and wasn’t always easy.
The biggest challenges for us this week was:
Not snacking as much… or at least as much junk!
There’s always an excuse, but this week we forced ourselves to say NO. And it felt good. Not only because it’s not going into our body and making us fat, but because on some level it’s a measure of self control and motivation, and it’s good to know we have that strength within us.
We have drunk about A MILLION cups of tea between us to avoid this snacking – needless to say our toilet is now always occupied!
This week was just to start us off to see how we would go, we had NO IDEA what to expect when we stepped on those scales this morning. We were so nervous. We knew we had changed our eating habits to a large degree and were frequenting the gym but still weren’t convinced we had lost anything.
Thankfully, we were very pleasantly surprised at the numbers that showed up!!
A loss of 2kg for Mel, and a loss of 2.2kg for Hannah*
Which means Red Team is The Biggest Loser this week!
Leaving The Blue Team below the yellow line, and $5 to the jar.
It’s been overwhelming all the support we’re getting from our friends and families, you wouldn’t believe how motivational it is having that behind us, so thanks.
We’d also like to shout out to Ash and her sister Hannah who have decided to complete this challenge too, best of luck! Make sure you keep us updated.
We’re pretty stoked and can’t wait to keep training and see if we can get great losses again next week!
In the mean time, we’re going to be starting our weekly challenges this week, so keep an eye out for the blog to see how we go!
– Mel and Hannah.
The first weigh in was completed in the night time and today we weighed in, in the morning, before eating. This would have made a slight difference to our loss.
