Hi there!
I’m Mel, wine nerd and self-titled master of sabrage.
I discovered wine when I went tasting one weekend in my early 20s. I soon converted my fitness blog into a wine blog (the irony is real) and started learning everything I could.
Shortly after, I was lucky enough to get a job as a Wine Ambassador. I did 6 months training in wine and wine business around the world, then was sent to Canada to represent a portfolio of wines.
I worked closely with wine trade this time. I also honed my tasting skills, and completed my WSET level 3.
I came back after two years and spent time with the wine marketing team in Sydney, working on huge brands and doing some seriously fun work. But, home was calling, so after a couple of years in Sydney, I returned to Melbourne.
I joined a mid-sized Yarra Valley winery, where I did some work I’m super proud of, including The Pairing Method which has been a finalist two years in a row for for the national Best Wine-Themed event.
I became certified to teach WSET2 and started a wine podcast with the fabulous Meg Brodtmann MW. We’ve become the number one wine podcast in Australia.
I now with with bubbles in the Yarra Valley (which is highly convienient as a Master of Sabrage), and still enjoy wine writing, teaching and podcasting.
looking forward to what you have to say.
